A homemade apple compote that evokes childhood memories and warms the heart. Simple and quick to prepare, enjoy it alone or as an accompaniment to your favorite dishes.

- 4 to 6 apples (any type)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Lemon juice (to taste)
Instructions
- Peel, core, and cut the apples into pieces.
- Add the apple pieces, water, sugar, and cinnamon to a large pot.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- For a smoother compote, use an immersion blender or a regular blender.
- Add lemon juice to taste.
- Let cool and store in jars or in the refrigerator.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Can also be frozen for longer storage.
