Batata Harra is a tasty and comforting Lebanese dish of spicy roasted potatoes, seasoned to perfection and ideal for sharing with family and friends.

- 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1.5 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon ground coriander
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (or ½ teaspoon for more heat)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Chopped coriander for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 250°C (450°F).
- In a bowl, toss the cubed potatoes with olive oil and salt until well coated.
- Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Roast in the oven for 30-40 minutes until golden and crispy, without needing to flip them.
- Once done, set the potatoes aside.
- In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, remaining olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, and black pepper.
- Serve the warm potatoes seasoned with the prepared spice mix and garnish with chopped coriander. Enjoy with tahini sauce or a fresh salad.
Notes
Choose waxy potatoes to keep them intact while roasting. Adjust the cayenne for more heat, and feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers.
