Description

Batata Harra is a tasty and comforting Lebanese dish of spicy roasted potatoes, seasoned to perfection and ideal for sharing with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1.5 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (or ½ teaspoon for more heat)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Chopped coriander for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°C (450°F).
  2. In a bowl, toss the cubed potatoes with olive oil and salt until well coated.
  3. Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Roast in the oven for 30-40 minutes until golden and crispy, without needing to flip them.
  5. Once done, set the potatoes aside.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, remaining olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, and black pepper.
  7. Serve the warm potatoes seasoned with the prepared spice mix and garnish with chopped coriander. Enjoy with tahini sauce or a fresh salad.

Notes

Choose waxy potatoes to keep them intact while roasting. Adjust the cayenne for more heat, and feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers.
