Description
Soft Turkish biscuits soaked in fragrant syrup, perfect with tea.
Ingredients
Scale
- 600 g de sucre
- 800 ml d’eau
- 1 rondelle de citron
- 150 g de beurre mou
- 2 oeufs
- 1 sachet de sucre vanillé
- 100 g de semoule fine ou moyenne
- 50 g de pistaches en poudre
- 1 sachet de levure chimique
- 200 g de farine
Instructions
- Prepare the syrup: In a saucepan, combine 600 g of sugar and 800 ml of water. Add the lemon slice and bring to a boil; simmer for 8 to 10 minutes until slightly thick.
- Remove the lemon slice and let the syrup cool completely.
- Preheat the oven to 170 °C (340 °F).
- In a bowl, work the softened butter with the vanilla sugar and some of the sugar if desired.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating between each addition.
- Incorporate the semolina, ground pistachios, and baking powder; mix well.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
- Shape small dough balls (the size of a walnut) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them out.
- Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a fork.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until the edges are golden but the center remains soft.
- Immediately pour the cold syrup over the warm biscuits, ensuring even distribution. Allow them to absorb the syrup.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature, accompanied by black tea or coffee. Sprinkle with crushed pistachios for color and crunch.
