A simple yet festive chocolate cake perfect for birthdays, featuring a moist chocolate sponge, shiny ganache, and light cream decoration.

- 200g dark chocolate
- 150g butter
- 150g sugar
- 4 eggs
- 100g flour
- 1 packet baking powder
- For the ganache: 200g dark chocolate and 200ml liquid cream
- For the light cream: 250ml whipping cream and 50g powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Melt the chocolate and butter in a bain-marie.
- In another large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until the mixture lightens.
- Incorporate the melted chocolate into the egg mixture.
- Add the flour and baking powder, mix well.
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured mold.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
- While the cake cools, prepare the ganache by heating the cream and pouring it over the chopped chocolate. Let it rest for 5 minutes, then mix until smooth.
- For the light cream, whip the cream with the powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Once the cake is cooled, cover it with ganache and decorate with the light cream.
Notes
Serve the cake at room temperature or slightly chilled. Optionally add berries or chocolate shavings for decoration.
